For growing season this year my future mother in law gave me a Topsy Turvy (as seen on TV). It was very sweet of her, as she knows I love to garden, but also knows our limited patio space, makes it difficult.
It wasn't as easy to set up as I had thought it might be. Once the container is filled with dirt the bag becomes quite heavy. If your hook isn't with in reach you'll need an extra set of hands to get everything situated.
Unfortunately the tomato plant I bought was to big, I had to do a bit of squishing, which may have injured the root system. After 2 days the little upside down tomato plant seems to be doing well. I wish there were an easier way to tell when the plant needs to be watered. It's not anywhere that can get rainwater, so I have to rely on myself entirely.
UPDATE: Here's a pic of the Topsy Turvy. The green bag holds the dirt and the root system.
I would like to see a picture of the Topsy Turvy so I can understand what you are talking about better.
Wow - that's awesome. The tomato plant is growing upside-down!!
