NASA has created a water filtration system that will recycle urine as potable water for astronauts. I know it's possible, but I don't know if I could drink it.
And in an emergency situation you can only drink it once. After that the toxins are too strong, it becomes poisonous the second time through. Unless of course you're using an external filtration system for it.
