The ocean is one of my favorite places. The sound the smell, even when it's cold it's comforting, so I find it very disturbing to hear the research that shows there is not one square kilometer of ocean that is not somehow impacted by humans, whether it is pollution, or over fishing. What covers 75% of the Earth's surface is tainted by our over globalization.
I suppose it's not anything to get too disturbed over, we're only ruining the planet for ourselves, after we're gone the Earth will recycle and return erasing most of our existence. Life will certainly continue on this planet. Those animals capable of adapting to the new environment will survive and those not so adapted will perish. If the planet is lucky humans will not be able to adapt to the changes they've implemented.
I'm not suggesting that we continue to pollute or overfish, quite the contrary, if humans wish to survive and flourish they will need to learn to respect the boundaries and limits that the Earth has to offer.
